Karr Barth Charity Challenge
Karr Barth Associates/AXA Advisors is proud to once again sponsor the 2010 Karr Barth Charity Challenge, with the goal to double the 2009 contribution to the Cancer Center at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia! This Charity Challenge will be part of Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon Sprint Race, which takes places Saturday, June 26th, 2010 in Fairmount Park.
Karr Barth’s CHOP Charity Challenge:
You can form a team and participate in the Karr Barth Charity Challenge. There must be a minimum of four entries per team and each member is encouraged to raise $150 for CHOP. Create your team page and encourage each member to create his or her own fundraising page as well. The Charity Challenge will award three prizes based on most funds raised for CHOP, largest team participation, and the fastest three times (one of which must be a woman).
About The Cancer Center:
The Cancer Center at Children’s Hospital is rated #1 in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Over 500 new patients are seen annually and an additional 3,600 are followed through our Survivorship Program. Because of research and treatment innovations led by Children's Hospital and other institutions, more than 75 percent of children and adolescents with cancer can now be cured. As a designated Children's Oncology Group Phase I and Phase II institution, we are uniquely positioned to offer our pediatric oncology patients a wide range of clinical trials of promising therapies as well as proven, state-of-the-art treatments.

The Sprint course will take place almost entirely on the Martin Luther King Drive section of Fairmount Park. It will include many pieces of the popular Olympic course. Like the Olympic Triathlon, its start/finish area and the transition area will be located just off Martin Luther King Drive, near the base of Black Road.
SWIM The .9K swim will be a loop that will start and finish at the transition area. The current in the River is negligible this time of the year. The finish will be an exit right into the belly of the transition area.
BIKE After exiting the transition area, athletes will start the two loop bike course all in Fairmount Park. Each loop will contain some fast, flat sections on Martin Luther King Drive as well as some modest technical and hilly portions on both sides of the river.
RUN The 5K run will be an out and back on Martin Luther King Drive with a photo finish just a short distance from the transition area.
